YouTube is launching revenue sharing

YouTube is preparing to share its revenues with users, said Chad Hurley, YouTube Co-Founder and CEO at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland (Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007). This path has been already followed by other companies (see Revver).

This is going to be one of the major innovations the site is working on and it could really amplify creativity and wish to participate while compensating users for the value added into the system.

The model is not known at this time, but any chosen mechanism will help us understanding how YouTube is getting or will get revenues from its service. Adding advertising through Google could be the quickest move.
