Ciao Emanuele. Grazie per il link e per il commento - ma Mario Giussani è qualcun altro... :-)
Your points on tags are well taken, but the most important thing I believe (possibily is what you refer to when you talk about browsability and discoverability) is about tag clouds or tag combinations. A single tag by itself will be of lesser use with the growth of the quantity of information, and people are tagging information according to very different approaches (facts; quality; interest; etc). So how can we develop automatic systems to "browse" clouds of interconnected tags?

Bruno, I beg your pardon for the mistyping.

I agree with you about the need of something more powerful that a single tag approach (the prevalent approach in near all tagging platforms today). There are anyway some relevant alternatives.

Hierarchical tagging, facet tagging, clusters, synonyms' ring usage are some ways in which the mess can be structured.

I invite you to have a look at our work with Facetag.org and to read some of my old posts listed on the right column of this blog.

I would appreciate your feedback and comments.
